2010 State Meet Wrap Up

The 2010 state meet was a fun, exciting meet! We were treated to some great individual races, and competitive swims up and down the events. West Des Moines Valley captured the team title with 173 points. Their team depth was evident as they captured their first gold of the day in the 400 Free Relay. Dowling Catholic was second with 138 points followed by Cedar Falls with 131 points. The meet produced 12 automatic All-American swims and 12 All-American consideration times.

Colby Kubat from Dowling was a double winner in the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke. Dustin Rhodes from Ames won double gold in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke. Dustin was named State Athlete of the Year on his two automatic All-American performances. Congratulations also go to Shawn DeBoef of West Des Moines Valley and his staff on being elected Coaching Staff of the Year.

The IHSSCA would like to thank Carol Hibbs, Director of the Marshalltown Community YMCA, Tim Bell-MHS Athletic Director, Linda Leaton-MHS Athletic Secretary, and the many volunteers that helped put on an excellent meet.
