To Interested Aquatic Parties,
The Iowa Department of Public Health is in the process of updating the Iowa Administrative Code Chapter 15 Swimming Pools and Spas. The primary focus of the proposed changes were to clarify existing language and to add new language where needed to address health and safety concerns.
As part of this process we have solicited input from various parties, reviewed rules from other states, and reviewed information from safety organizations and consultants in drafting these proposed changes.
We do not yet know how soon these will be filed as official Notices of Intended Action. However, we wanted to get the proposed rules out to interested parties so that they could have a chance to submit written comments in advance. We would like to receive informal public comments to identify either support for or opposition to any of the proposed changes. In addition we welcome written suggestions for improving the proposed changes. We have attached a copy of the proposed rule changes for your review and have included an informal public comment form for submission of comments.
We will not be able to respond to all comments individually, but they will be reviewed and compiled to identify areas that may need additional attention before they are submitted to the State Board of Health.
Please submit the informal public comment forms to john.kelly@idph.iowa.gov by January 13, 2012.
