2008 State Meet Wrap Up

The 2008 State Swim Meet was an exciting one. This year’s meet produced 11 automatic All-American times and 8 All-American consideration times. Jordan Huff of Dubuque Senior was a double winner in the 200 and 100 Freestyle. Both performances qualified Jordan for automatic All-American status. John Gayton from Bettendorf was also a double winner. John took top honors in the 200 IM and the 100 Backstroke. Jordan was recognized as the State Athlete of the Year. Congratulations Jordan.
Cedar Rapids Washington took the team title with 171 points. Bettendorf was second with 144 points, followed by Cedar Falls with 129 points. Congratulations go to Coach Chris Cruise and the entire staff at Cedar Rapids Washington on being elected State Coaching Staff of the Year.
A bit “thank you” goes to the Community Y of Marshalltown, Mr. Tim Bell-MHS Athletic Director, and the many staff and volunteers that helped put on an excellent meet.
